In an effort to distract myself from expense reporting, as well as a desire to get back into blogging, I decided to hop online and post for a change. Feels like ages since I made a proper post. Since that time I've been to Germany, Hong Kong, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Columbia, USA, Czech Republic, and Austria!
During these wild and varied escapades I managed to procure not one, but two cameras (in another effort to do more with photography) so check my Flickr photostream for updates soon.
But back to the original topic of the post, inspirational architecture. Here are some photos I took of the NEMO building here in Amsterdam. It's the science & technology museum for kids of all ages. I love the design of it as it is clearly evocative of the bow of a ship. It's also quite functional as on the "deck" of the ship there is an open air space that they turn into a beach in the summer time. You can relax and have a drink in the sand there and enjoy a beautiful view of the city. Another cool aspect of the building is that it is directly above one of the main arterial tunnels that links the Amsterdam Noord and the rest of the city. It's pretty surreal to see the cars drive in what appears to be a crash course right into the building.
