But back to the original topic of the post, inspirational architecture. Here are some photos I took of the NEMO building here in Amsterdam. It's the science & technology museum for kids of all ages. I love the design of it as it is clearly evocative of the bow of a ship. It's also quite functional as on the "deck" of the ship there is an open air space that they turn into a beach in the summer time. You can relax and have a drink in the sand there and enjoy a beautiful view of the city. Another cool aspect of the building is that it is directly above one of the main arterial tunnels that links the Amsterdam Noord and the rest of the city. It's pretty surreal to see the cars drive in what appears to be a crash course right into the building.
