Is this thing still on?
OK, it has officially been ages since I have posted anything, anywhere. No photos on Flickr since I am still bitter about my camera being stolen in Johannesburg and my little camera was smashed and sacrificed to the gods of Carnival in Köln. I've been so busy traveling all around the world that when I inevitably did come home to roost, the last thing that I wanted to do was crank out more typing on the laptop.
But it is high time that I get back on the blogging wagon, if only so people can keep track of me. Strangely enough, I do occasionally post things on Dopplr or Twitter, but it's back to the good old fashioned way of typing it all out on my flamingly hot (literally) laptop.
So what prompted this sudden impulse to share online? Well, I am proud to say that I'll be attending weddings all around the world this year. In fact other than the short time I had off for Mancation (which for legal reasons I am prohibitted from speaking of) all my vaction time this year will be devoted to jetting off to some exotic locals. First on deck is my trip to Medellín at the end of this month. My old roomie Jacob has migrated there and found himself a bonita señorita and I'll be there to celebrate with him on the 30th. Also, as a side note with my mad travel skillz I managed to arrange a stopover for a weekend with my sister and my bro-in-law so it's like a mini-reunion for the last weddding I was in.
After that, it's off to Hawaii in August to attend the wedding of Papi Chulo again. I get the proud honor of being there for his second wedding with booze filled memories of his first still fresh in my head. The best part is that in an amazing degree of serendipity I found out about the wedding on the same day I discovered I had to be back in the USA. Even better is that it is directly AFTER my work obligations, so I'll get the amazing chance to mix one trip into visiting friends in Minnesota, Hawaii, and Arizona all in one. Jackpot!
November takes me South of the border to celebrate with the previously mentioned Minnesotans in Cabo San Lucas, which will make for decidedly spicy stories. The all inclusive place they have booked looks truly amazing and I'll be on a personal mission to make sure that I get my money's worth enjoying all the amenities. Plus I love any opportunity to stock up on tequila mas fina!
The end of the year will be fast approaching by that point, which will be welcome as it means more vacation time for me, and more weddings! New Year's will me memorable as I get to ring it in with some of my oldest and dearest acquantances. Josh, my protegeé and dear friend is getting hitched to an amazing gal which will make for one hell of a party.
Last but certainly not least is The S.S. Ur's wedding in Maui in Febraury. Buy the time this one rolls around I will be the seasoned veteran of many a marital campaign, but I am sure it will be tough to top this one and I am definitely looking forward to it.
But all this celebration of love & life partnership does leave me with a slight tinge of remorse. Feels like everyone is getting married and I'm just getting drunk. But who doesn't love getting sauced at weddings. after all they are great places to meet quality people. Any bets on which is the first wedding I don't fly solo to?
