Ha, when I saw this I instantly assumed you were talking about your Vox neighbourhood.. clearly I need to get out more.
I was over in Amsterdam for a morning travelling from Eindhoven to Dublin about a year and a half ago and I had the good fortune to witness an army of police issue an ultimatum to a squat (which was actually abandoned at that stage). It was quite an entertaining hour of watching.. cranes and breaking through windows and the full closing of a street (and I was in a café in the middle of it all!)
Amsterdam is cool. Nice relaxed vibe. Felt similar to Copenhagen. Venice felt quite different though, despite the canals.
