Show us an example of architecture you find interesting or inspiring.
During these wild and varied escapades I managed to procure not one, but two cameras (in another effort to do more with photography) so check my Flickr photostream for updates soon.
But back to the original topic of the post, inspirational architecture. Here are some photos I took of the NEMO building here in Amsterdam. It's the science & technology museum for kids of all ages. I love the design of it as it is clearly evocative of the bow of a ship. It's also quite functional as on the "deck" of the ship there is an open air space that they turn into a beach in the summer time. You can relax and have a drink in the sand there and enjoy a beautiful view of the city. Another cool aspect of the building is that it is directly above one of the main arterial tunnels that links the Amsterdam Noord and the rest of the city. It's pretty surreal to see the cars drive in what appears to be a crash course right into the building.
I just found out that another couple I know are getting married and I'm invited (if I want) to go. It's a bit bittersweet to hear that as they basically met each other, by cheating on me. But hey, I guess they were much more serious about the whole situation as they are not only engaged, but they are moving into their first house in two weeks and also expecting a baby boy in September too. I wish them all the best, but I don't know if I'll be making it to Canada next spring for the big day though. I suppose that I can always decide on that later on as I suspect that I may run into them at one or more of the other weddings between now and then.

In keeping with the Lot's O' Weddings theme, here is a picture from my sister's wedding last April. Check out the scary lady peeking at the photographer... LOL
OK, it has officially been ages since I have posted anything, anywhere. No photos on Flickr since I am still bitter about my camera being stolen in Johannesburg and my little camera was smashed and sacrificed to the gods of Carnival in Köln. I've been so busy traveling all around the world that when I inevitably did come home to roost, the last thing that I wanted to do was crank out more typing on the laptop.
But it is high time that I get back on the blogging wagon, if only so people can keep track of me. Strangely enough, I do occasionally post things on Dopplr or Twitter, but it's back to the good old fashioned way of typing it all out on my flamingly hot (literally) laptop.
So what prompted this sudden impulse to share online? Well, I am proud to say that I'll be attending weddings all around the world this year. In fact other than the short time I had off for Mancation (which for legal reasons I am prohibitted from speaking of) all my vaction time this year will be devoted to jetting off to some exotic locals. First on deck is my trip to Medellín at the end of this month. My old roomie Jacob has migrated there and found himself a bonita señorita and I'll be there to celebrate with him on the 30th. Also, as a side note with my mad travel skillz I managed to arrange a stopover for a weekend with my sister and my bro-in-law so it's like a mini-reunion for the last weddding I was in.
After that, it's off to Hawaii in August to attend the wedding of Papi Chulo again. I get the proud honor of being there for his second wedding with booze filled memories of his first still fresh in my head. The best part is that in an amazing degree of serendipity I found out about the wedding on the same day I discovered I had to be back in the USA. Even better is that it is directly AFTER my work obligations, so I'll get the amazing chance to mix one trip into visiting friends in Minnesota, Hawaii, and Arizona all in one. Jackpot!
November takes me South of the border to celebrate with the previously mentioned Minnesotans in Cabo San Lucas, which will make for decidedly spicy stories. The all inclusive place they have booked looks truly amazing and I'll be on a personal mission to make sure that I get my money's worth enjoying all the amenities. Plus I love any opportunity to stock up on tequila mas fina!
The end of the year will be fast approaching by that point, which will be welcome as it means more vacation time for me, and more weddings! New Year's will me memorable as I get to ring it in with some of my oldest and dearest acquantances. Josh, my protegeé and dear friend is getting hitched to an amazing gal which will make for one hell of a party.
Last but certainly not least is The S.S. Ur's wedding in Maui in Febraury. Buy the time this one rolls around I will be the seasoned veteran of many a marital campaign, but I am sure it will be tough to top this one and I am definitely looking forward to it.
But all this celebration of love & life partnership does leave me with a slight tinge of remorse. Feels like everyone is getting married and I'm just getting drunk. But who doesn't love getting sauced at weddings. after all they are great places to meet quality people. Any bets on which is the first wedding I don't fly solo to?
But I did it anyway... hi hi
The Everything Test
There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all.Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-)

I am really excited to see 300 at the IMAX theatre in Amsterdam. So excited that I prebought tickets for next Wednesday when it starts screening here in Holland. I've been looking forward to seeing this film since I saw the trailer last year and I so happy that the premier is finally at hand.
There is just something so surreal about hearing the cafe from across the canal play Jame's Brown's Sex Machine from inside the Red Light District...
Looking back on the weekend, I do have to give it my seal of approval. It started off pretty slowly on Friday night as I waited around home for my friend Rob to arrive from Ijmuiden. He's the kind of guy that will call, say he is going to be there at nine and then show up at eleven. By the time he got here and then played some Xbox 360, it was really late. Despite the late hour, I still needed a shave and I convinced Rob to also shave off his scraggly ass beard. We finally made it out and went to a party at a squat in the old film museum. The party may have been good at one point, but we were there too late. We had a couple of beers and then went to another party. We were really lucky to have gotten in because it turned out to be a lesbian night at the club.
Let me say it was probably the best party that I have been to this year. It was maybe about 200 people and 180 women and 15 gay men. I was really in shock too at how many beautiful women were there. Normally if you think of lesbians you probably picture a couple of dykes. But not at this party. Most of the girls were either really feminine or trying to be masculine and there were very few butch women there. We danced and just watched as women were making out with women on the dance floor, which was interrupted by a burlesque show, and then more dancing. We ended up closing the place down and our friend Koko came home with us for some more late night Xbox. I do have to admit that it's been a while since I've played video games with such an attractive girl.
Saturday was more of the same, but before the late night antics, I finally got delivery of my Tempur mattress & pillow I ordered ages ago. I do have to admit that I slept like a baby on it and despite the fact I only got a few hours of sleep, it was real quality sleep and I woke up refreshed and invigorated. More video gaming with Rob and later joined by Dwight, before we went out to another club again.
Sunday was devoted to catching up on sleep and watching the Chelsea football game. They ended up winning so it was a pretty satisfying way to end the weekend.
Watch out, lurking in the boozy atmoshphere of the reception, Photo Crashers! read more
